Where can I get advice on retirement and caregiving?
In your mid 50's, most of your money is in your 401(K), counting the days until 59 1/2, and facing some major life and financial decisions.
Where do you turn?
Your workplace 401(K) person? They'll talk to you about your options in the account, but that’s all the firm allows them to talk about. They probably won’t meet with your spouse and look at your overall financial picture. They won’t review your 1040 or a copy of your Trust.
What about a personal advisor? The big firms say you need investable assets. Do you have $1M in your brokerage account and IRA? They're hoping you change jobs and will do a rollover.
What about that guy from college? He’s an advisor. That guy only wants to sell you more life insurance.
What most people don’t know about are flat-fee advisors. They have a transparent fee, can look at your overall financial picture, and you don’t to give them $1 Million for it. They follow a process, assess your situation, give you advice, and can help you implement the advice or refer you to someone who can.
That's it.
You feel better about your situation, moving toward retirement, and move on with your life with a stronger foundation.
If you want advice without the usual baggage, it's there.
My specialty is helping families navigate complex transitions by ensuring their financial plan can survive real life and work in the living room. I do it for a flat fee.
